Wounded Guardsman progressing (Jose Pequeno)


LISBON (AP) -- When Staff Sgt. Jose Pequeno suffered head injuries in Iraq this year, his community immediately pitched in to help.

They raised more than $100,000 for a special wheelchair-accessible home for Pequeno, 32, a New Hampshire National Guardsman who is the police chief in Sugar Hill. He recently came out of a coma and is recovering at a rehabilitation center for patients with traumatic brain injuries in Tampa, Fla.
