Lawmaker back in Iraq after injury

State Rep. Ray Zirkelbach has been back on duty in Iraq for nearly a month after suffering minor injuries from a roadside bomb, his mother said Thursday.

Zirkelbach, a Democrat from Monticello, has been serving as a Specialist with the Iowa National Guard 133rd Infantry Division since October 2005.

His mother, Karen Ross, said it was early August when the improvised explosive device struck a vehicle in the convoy he was riding in, knocking him unconscious.
