Ceremony today for Guard soldiers preparing to deploy
MUSKOGEE, Okla. A ceremony is planned for this afternoon in Muskogee for Oklahoma National Guard soldiers who are preparing to leave for eventual duty in Iraq.
Colonel Pat Scully says the departure ceremony is for about 180 soldiers with the 245th Engineering Company who will be leaving in the next few days for Fort Dix, New Jersey.
Scully says the soldiers will spend about three months in training at Fort Dix before deploying to Iraq where they'll spend about one year.
