Fond du Lac native's military aid program receives recognition
To David Lefavor it's no surprise Fond du Lac native Robert "Bob" Silah has turned Operation Helping Hand into a thriving success.
"There are bears and there are bulls and Bob is a combination of both of them," said Lefavor, the chaplain at James A. Haley VA Medical Center in Tampa Bay, Fla.
Operation Helping Hand, a Tampa Bay-based organization that works to help wounded soldiers and their families, has given out more than $45,000 in cash and checks since it started two years ago.
