Bush withholding facts on Iraq - expert
Anthony H. Cordesman, who holds the Arleigh A. Burke chair in strategy at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, a Washington think tank, wrote that the Bush administration's August 2006 quarterly Report to Congress on "Measuring Security and Stability in Iraq" reported "progress." But, he said, the administration's report was still "far from the facts that the nation needs and deserves."
Cordesman also noted that the administration's report "was carefully released Friday, just before a Labor Day weekend. This may have been to minimize reporting on the extent to which it reflects a major increase in the risk of a civil war," he wrote.
