DIWANIYA - The governor and police chief of Iraq's Diwaniya province were killed in a roadside bomb attack on their convoy near the city of Diwaniya, 180 km (110 miles) south of Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - Eleven bodies were found in different areas of Baghdad in the past 24 hours, police said.

BAGHDAD - A roadside bomb killed one civilian and wounded two others in the Zaafaraniya district of southern Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - A mortar attack in southwestern Baghdad's Jihad district wounded 10 people, police said.

ISHAQI - The dismembered bodies of four people were found in Ishaqi, 100 km (60 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - U.S. forces killed two suspected insurgents and arrested 10 others in operations on Friday and Saturday in central and northern Iraq, the U.S. military said.

BAGHDAD - Six bodies were found in different areas of Baghdad on Friday, police said.

SAMARRA - Police said eight electricity workers were killed and two wounded when U.S. aircraft fired on their van near Samarra, 100 km (60 miles) north of Baghdad, on Friday. The U.S. military said aircraft had tracked six armed individuals in a truck in the area on Thursday, and fired on them as they planted a roadside bomb. All six were killed.

RASHAD - The bodies of two Kurdish Yazidis were found near the small town of Rashad, 30 km (18 miles) south of the northern city of Kirkuk, on Friday, police said. The reason for their killing was not known.

BAIJI - More than 20 insurgents forced staff from a civil defence building in Baiji, 180 km (110 miles) north of Baghdad, on Friday and then destroyed the building with a bomb, police said. Two people were wounded by flying debris.
