Daniel Reyes laid to rest
Army Specialist Daniel F. Reyes, 24, was laid to rest at the Oak Hill Memorial Park in San Jose today. He died July 31 in Iraq from wounds suffered in an attack on Forward Operating Base Kalsu.
Reyes joined the Army in June of 2005 and was assigned to Fort Richardson the following January with Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 377th Parachute Field Artillery Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division.
"He knew very well what the dangers were,” said Reyes’ brother, Navy sailor Antonio Rodriguez. “He wanted to join because he wanted to protect his family, wanted to protect his friends. He cared very much and very dearly for them and he'd rather take the fight to them rather than have them come here and put his family in danger."
Reyes is survived by a wife and young son.
