Sadr senior aide gunned down in Najaf

A senior supporter of Shiite cleric Moqtada al- Sadr was killed in the Iraqi city of Najaf by unknown fire on Saturday morning.

Police sources in the Shiite-dominated city 200 kilometres south of Baghdad said that Sheikh Mohammed al-Qarawi's office was attacked by armed men who gunned the Sadrist down.

The local Sadr office handled tribal affairs in the region, according to the police source.
