Sid W. Brookshire dies 'of wounds suffered when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle'

Willard High School graduate has died while serving in Iraq. Family members tell KOLR/KSFX that Major Sid Brookshire died in Iraq earlier this week.

Brookshire was based out of Fort Stewart, Georgia and had only been in Iraq for about a month.

Family members tell us Brookshire graduated from Willard High School and attended Missouri State University before joining the Army.

He is survived by a wife and two daughters.
