FORT LEE, Va. -- A Stony Creek, Va., family is mourning the loss of their son who died in Iraq over the weekend.
According to a Department of Defense release, Staff Sgt. Michael D. Moody, Jr., 31, died June 23 in Baghdad, of wounds suffered when his unit was attacked by insurgents using an improvised explosive device and small arms fire.
Moody, along with two other Soldiers also killed in the attack, were assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division, Fort Benning, Ga.
