Allen Mosteiro dies of wounds from combat operations
Fort Hood Sgt. First Class Allen Mosteiro, 42, of Fort Worth died Wednesday in Baghdad of injuries received the day before in a small arms attack during combat operations in Taji, the military said.
Mosteiro was assigned to the 1st Cavalry Division’s 1st Squadron, 7th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade.
His mother, Pat Mosteiro say Allen "was the ultimate soldier" and "believed in what he was doing."
Mosteiro attended Eastern Hills High School in Fort Worth.
He is survived by his wife Svetlana, a 14-year-old son; his father, Bill Mosteiro; one brother and three sisters.
Mosteiro is one of two soldiers from Texas who have died in Iraq this week.
Mosterio joined the Army in 1988.
