BAGHDAD - Two officials of Iraq's U.S.-sponsored security court, the Central Criminal Court of Iraq, were killed when a bomb planted next to the fuel tank of their car exploded as they crossed a bridge near the court in central Baghdad, an Interior Ministry source said. The officials were not named.
BAGHDAD - Eight bodyguards from the political movement of secular Shi'ite former prime minister Iyad Allawi were arrested by police at one of Allawi's offices in the mainly Sunni Baghdad district of Aadhamiya, police and Allawi aides said.
RAMADI - Two suicide car bomb attacks on police positions north of Ramadi killed five policemen and wounded three, police Colonel Abdul Jabaar al-Nimrawi said. Ramadi, capital of Anbar province, sees intense activity by Sunni Arab insurgents.
BAGHDAD - Thirty-five bodies were found dumped in different districts of Baghdad, an Interior Ministry source said. Most had gunshot wounds in the head. Earlier the source put the day's figure at 10 but a further 25 were found later.
MOSUL - The bodies of nine people, including a policeman, were found in different districts of Mosul, police said. One of the victims was burned and others had gunshot wounds.
