Sadr movement plans protest after arrest


In a new test to the authority of the government, the movement loyal to the radical Shiite cleric Moktada al-Sadr threatened Tuesday to hold demonstrations in Baghdad on Wednesday.

Sadr's party said U.S.-led forces had arrested Sheik Mazen al-Saedi, one of its top officials, in Karkh, the part of Baghdad west of the Tigris River, which has been the scene of recent sectarian violence. The coalition would not immediately comment.
