More Okinawa Marines due back from Iraq

CAMP FOSTER, Okinawa — About 70 more Marines who deployed with the 3rd Transportation Support Battalion are expected to return here Saturday and Sunday.

The battalion, part of the 3rd Marine Logistics Group, provided convoy support and security, as well as heavy equipment and construction support during their more than six-month deployment in Al Asad, Iraq, according to Marine Corps spokesman Gunnery Sgt. Chuck Albrecht.

More than 110 Marines and sailors returned Thursday.

Posters and banners with messages such as “Welcome Home Daddy” and “Thank You Heroes” greeted the Marines on Camp Foster.
