Marine's memory honored through McNick awards (Nicholas Brandon Erdy)

Marine Lance Cpl. Nicholas Brandon Erdy, a 2002 McNicholas High School graduate who was killed May 11 in Iraq, was remembered last week through two scholarships named in his honor.
Recipients of the Nick Erdy Scholarships are Alexander Schreiner, son of Larry and Debbie Schreiner, Tate Township, and Joey Zerhusen, son of Joe and Mary Zerhusen, Batavia Township.
Alexander, a 2006 McNicholas graduate, received a $2,000 scholarship that is available to a graduating senior entering the military service.
Alexander, a McNick wrestler, has joined the Army. His father served in the Marines.
