DIYALA - Four U.S. soldiers were killed by an explosion near their vehicle in Diyala province northeast of Baghdad, the U.S. military said.

BAGHDAD - Iraqi and U.S. special forces killed a suspected Shi'ite militant leader on Thursday in Diwaniya, 180 km (110 miles) south of Baghdad, the U.S. military said.

BAGHDAD - Six bodies were found in different parts of Baghdad in the past 24 hours, the Interior Ministry said. Three of the bodies found in southern Doura district had been beheaded.

SUWAYRA - Gunmen killed three people near the town of Suwayra, 60 km (40 miles) south of Baghdad, police said.

KIRKUK - Gunmen killed an Iraqi army officer when they stormed his house in Kirkuk, 250 km (155 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

BAIJI - A suicide bomber rammed a truck laden with explosives into two police cars near Baiji, 180 km (110 miles) north of Baghdad, killing 10 people, a police source said.

YUSUFIYA - U.S. forces killed four gunmen and arrested five suspects in Yusufiya, 15 km (10 miles) south of Baghdad, in a raid on a network suspected of facilitating the movement of foreign insurgents in the area south of the capital, the U.S. military said.

TARMIYAH - U.S. forces killed a gunman during a raid in Tarmiyah, 30 km (20 miles) north of Baghdad.

HILLA - Gunmen clashed with house guards of a senior army officer in central Hilla, 100 km (60 miles) south of Baghdad, killing one guard and wounding another, police said.

HAWIJA - Gunmen killed one woman and wounded her daughter in a drive-by shooting near Hawija, 70 km (40 miles) southwest of the northern city of Kirkuk, police said.

BALAD - The bodies of a police officer and a local judge were found in Balad 80 km (50 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - Eleven bodies were found throughout Baghdad on Thursday, police said.

MOSUL - The body of a former Iraqi Army major-general was found on Thursday in central Mosul, 390 km (240 miles) north of Baghdad, after he was abducted by gunmen on Monday, police said.

FALLUJA - One policeman was killed on Thursday and two others wounded by a roadside bomb targeting their vehicle in Falluja, 50 km (32 miles) west of Baghdad, police said.

FALLUJA - Iraqi and Coalition Forces killed three insurgents, one believed to be the leader of the Islamic State in Karmah, in a raid on a mosque on Thursday, the U.S. military said. After the raid the suspects fled the mosque and engaged the U.S forces, wounding three U.S. soldiers.
