SAMARRA - Two U.S. soldiers were killed by small arms fire in Samarra, 100 km (60 miles) north of Baghdad, on Sunday, the U.S. military said.

ANBAR - Two U.S. Marines were killed in two separate incidents on Saturday and Sunday while conducting combat operations in western Anbar province, the U.S. military said.

BAGHDAD - U.S. forces conducted a series of raids, killing three militants and detaining eight in Baghdad, Kut and Hussaiba on Saturday, the U.S. military said.

QAIM - Police said they found the bodies of three people shot and tortured near the town of Qaim, 500 km (300 miles) west of Baghdad.

BAGHDAD - A U.S. helicopter killed four gunmen who were placing a roadside bomb in southern Baghdad on Sunday, the U.S. military said.

BAGHDAD - U.S. forces killed eight militants and detained 16 suspects on Monday during operations targeting key leaders and facilitators in the al Qaeda in Iraq network in central and northern Iraq, the U.S. military said.

BAGHDAD - The bodies of 11 people were found in various districts of Baghdad on Sunday, police said.

JURF AL-SAKHR - At least seven tribal militia members were killed and four wounded when they clashed with al Qaeda militants overnight in the town of Jurf al-Sakhr, about 85 km (50 miles) south of Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - A roadside bomb killed one person and wounded three others in central Baghdad, police said.

MAHMUDIYA - A mortar round killed a child and wounded two others in the town of Mahmudiya, about 30 km (20 miles) south of Baghdad, on Sunday, police said.

BAGHDAD - Gunmen attacked a police station and wounded three policemen in al-Rashdiya district in the northern outskirts of Baghdad on Sunday, police said.
