Victor A. Garcia dies 'of wounds suffered from enemy small arms fire'
FORT LEWIS -- A 22-year-old Fort Lewis soldier, Cpl. Victor A. Garcia, died Sunday in combat in Baghdad, the Defense Department announced Monday.
Garcia, from Rialto, Calif., was killed by enemy gunfire, military officials said. He had lived at Fort Lewis since April 2005. He joined the Army in 2004 after completing a year of college. He was a member of 1st Battalion, 38th Infantry Regiment, 4th Stryker Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division from Fort Lewis. The nearly 4,000- member brigade arrived in Iraq in April.
