Washington – The Defense Department Tuesday announced the death earlier this year of Brooklyn Marine in a non-combat incident in Iraq. The incident is still under investigation.
Lance Cpl. Angel R. Ramirez, 28, of Brooklyn, N.Y., died Feb. 21 at Marine Air Ground Combat Center, Twentynine Palms, Calif., after being medically evacuated following a non-hostile incident in Al Qaim, Iraq, on Dec. 21, 2006.
He was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 4th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, I Marine Expeditionary Force, Twentynine Palms, Calif.
The announcement surrounding the death of this Marine was delayed due to “an administrative adjustment” to the Marine's original death classification.
