BAGHDAD - A U.S. soldier was killed in a roadside bomb attack in eastern Baghdad, the U.S. military said. Another soldier was wounded.

BAGHDAD - A car bomb killed 25 people and wounded 40 at an intersection in a Shi'ite area of southern Baghdad where minibuses pick up and drop off passengers, Iraqi police said.

BAGHDAD - Five people were killed and 11 wounded when a car bomb exploded near a queue of cars waiting for petrol in western Baghdad's Mansour district, police said. 16 cars were burnt in the blast.

BAGHDAD - Iraqi police found the bodies of 20 beheaded men dumped on the banks of the River Tigris in the town of Salman Pak, just south of Baghdad, police said.

BASRA - A roadside bomb killed three British soldiers and seriously wounded another in the southern city of Basra, the British military said. The soldiers were on foot at the time, spokesman Major David Gell said.

BAGHDAD - A mortar attack killed two people and wounded another in the eastern New Baghdad district, police said.

BAGHDAD - Four people were wounded by a roadside bomb in a busy market in northern Baghdad's Shaab district, police said.

BAGHDAD - Two people were killed and 14 wounded by a mortar attack in the commercial area of Shorja in central Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - U.S. Apache attack helicopters killed one insurgent and wounded another on Tuesday south of Baghdad, the military said. It said the helicopters received small arms fire from a building, prompting them to return fire.

BAQUBA - The U.S. military said it had killed at least 60 al Qaeda operatives in Operation Arrowhead Ripper, an offensive in and around the city of Baquba in Diyala province that began 10 days ago. The military said 74 al Qaeda militants were detained and 31 weapons caches discovered.

MUQDADIYA - U.S. forces killed two gunmen near Muqdadiya in Diyala province on Tuesday, the U.S. military said.
