Matthew J. Kuglics dies 'of wounds suffered when his vehicle was struck by an improvised explosive device'
For the second time this week, a local community is mourning the loss of a young man killed in the war.
Wednesday, students at Green High School were among the first to learn of the death of 25-year-old Matthew Kuglics.
He graduated from the school in 2000 and enlisted in the Air Force almost immediately.
Kuglics was serving his second tour of duty overseas.
Those who knew Matthew say he made his mark early on. "Anything that he did he understood it well and he took pride in the work that he did. A lot of the work that he did stood out from his classmates. And he got along with everyone so well. He was just a decent nice person," said teacher Felice Troutman.
Matthew's sister is a senior who will be graduating from Green High on Thursday.
Students and teachers at the school said a prayer for her and her family.
