6 detainees killed, at least 50 wounded in mortar attack on detention camp Bucca
Left: Camp Bucca is the overwhelmingly larger of 2 U.S.-run 'detention centers' in Iraq. Some detainees have been held there for years without charges or trial, and allegations of abuse of prisoners have been made. Camp Bucca is the largest US-run prison facility in Iraq, and has 13,000 of a total of 19,000 detainees held at US facilities in the country.
US military spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Christopher Garver said the "indirect fire" attack consisted of a number of mortar rounds or rockets fired into Camp Bucca, but he gave no further details.
