A seven year-old sits alone in a classroom in Baghdad today as parents concerned about street violence increasingly keep their children at home.
Baghdad- Iraqi police patrols on Monday found 30 unknown bodies dumped in different parts of Baghdad, while four unidentified bodies were found in Diala province, 57 km northeast of Baghdad, a police source said.
Diala- An armed group on Monday executed two teachers, a husband and a wife, before the eyes of their pupils inside a school in Diala province, 57 km northeast of Baghdad, a security source said.
Baghdad- At least two civilians were killed and three others were wounded on Monday when two mortar rounds hit a house in southwestern Baghdad, a security source said.
Baghdad- Iraqi security forces killed one gunman and arrested 86 suspected militants in several areas in Baghdad, during the past 24 hours, under the Baghdad law-imposing plan, the Baghdad operations command said on Monday.
Hilla- At least two people were killed and ten more were wounded on Monday in a mortar attack north of Hilla, while unknown gunmen shot and killed a police officer near the city, a police source said.
Aana- A suicide bomber detonated a vehicle rigged with explosives on Monday in a Sunni town in western Iraq leaving unspecified number of casualties, local residents in Anbar province said.
Mosul – An explosive device went off near an Iraqi police patrol, wounding a policeman and destroying a vehicle in western Mosul, Ninawa police operations room chief said.
Baghdad – Fifteen suspects were arrested in a military operations against the so-called al-Qaeda Organization in Iraq in several areas of the country, the U.S. army said.
Basra – The guard of a government facility was killed in crossfire of clashes between a British patrol and gunmen in central Basra, a police source said.
Kirkuk – Iraqi policemen found the body of a fellow policeman on main road near the district of al-Huweija while an explosive charge targeting a police patrol in Kirkuk wounded one civilian, an Iraqi police source said.
Baghdad – The security situation in al-Bayaa, southeastern Baghdad, is under control after deployment of security men in the area, Brig. Qassem Atta, the spokesman for the Baghdad Fardh al-Qanoon security plan operations room, said.
Baghdad – U.S. and Iraqi forces cordoned off the areas of Raghebat Khatun and Ra's al-Hawwash in the northern Baghdad neighborhood of al-Aazamiya and launched a search and arrest campaign, while other forces raided the neighborhood of al-Jihad, southwestern Baghdad, local residents said.
Diala – Five civilians, including three brothers, were killed on Monday in two separate incidents in central al-Khalis district, Diala province, an Iraqi police source said.
Diala – The Khalis public hospital received the bodies of six Iraqi National Guard soldiers, medics in the hospital said.
