Security Summary: May 15, 2007

The family of a mortar attack victim grieves outside a hospital in Baghdad today. The attack killed 4 and wounded 11 at a market in Baghdad's Sadr City neighborhood.

Baghdad- At least one civilian was killed and four others were wounded on Tuesday when a bomb stashed in a minibus went off in southern Baghdad's outskirt of al-Mahmudiyah, a police source said.

Baghdad- Two civilians were wounded on Tuesday when a mortar shell fell on Abu Nuas street in central Baghdad, a police source said.

Baghdad- Unknown gunmen shot and killed on Tuesday a senior police officer outside his house Nafaq al-Shurta, western Bahdad, a police source said.

Baghdad- Iraqi police patrols on Tuesday found 15 unknown bodies dumped in different parts of Baghdad, a source from interior ministry said.

Hilla- An Iraqi army soldier was killed and four people, including two soldiers, were wounded on Tuesday in attack on an Iraqi army vehicle patrol in north of Hilla, a police source said.

Baghdad- A kidnapped senior official at the Iraqi industry ministry along with two of his bodyguards were found dead on Tuesday in Baghdad, a ministry source said.

Kirkuk- At least a civilian was killed and another one was wounded on Tuesday when an explosive charge went off near a police vehicle patrol in Hawija district, 70 km west of the northern Iraqi city of Kirkuk, a security source said.

Diala- At least four Iraqi soldiers were wounded on Tuesday when an explosive charge was detonated near an Iraqi army vehicle patrol in Muqdadiyah district, eastern Diala, 57 km northeast of Baghdad, a police source said.

Basra- Multi-National forces arrested a policeman early on Tuesday, while anti-riot forces arrested a looting gang in southern Iraq, a security source said.

Baghdad- Five people were killed and 15 others were wounded when two explosive charges went off in central Baghdad, police sources said on Tuesday.

Tikrit– A civilian and a policeman were killed and a woman wounded in an armed attack on an Iraqi army checkpoint in eastern Tikrit, Salah al-Din province, while three civilians were kidnapped in al-Isahaqi on Tuesday, a local police source said.

Mosul– Four Iraqi soldiers were wounded when a car rigged with explosives targeted their patrol in northern Ninawa province, 402 km north of Baghdad, an Iraqi army source said on Tuesday.

Baghdad– Three U.S. soldiers were killed and eight others wounded in separate incidents in the Iraqi capital Baghdad, the U.S. army said on Tuesday.

Touz Khormato – A group of armed men kidnapped five civilians coming from Tikrit to Touz Khormato in the Sunni province of Salah al-Din, an official source in the Iraqi police said on Tuesday.

Baghdad- Iraqi security forces arrested 37 suspected militants in several areas of Baghdad during the past 24 hours under the Baghdad law-imposing plan, the Baghdad operations command said on Tuesday.

Baghdad- A number of mortar shells landed on the fortified green zone in central Baghdad, eyewitnesses said on Tuesday.
