'Suspected insurgents' are marched towards a police station after they were arrested during a raid in Mosul today

DIYALA PROVINCE - In a joint Iraqi-U.S. operation, which began two weeks ago northeast of Baquba, more than 30 insurgents were killed and 28 detained, the U.S. military said. Over 15 weapon caches were found and two insurgent safe havens cleared.

KERBALA - Bodies of six goat-herders were found shot west of Kerbala, 110 km (70 miles) south of Baghdad, police said.

BAQUBA - The bodies of five people were found shot in Baquba, 65 Km (40 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

HAWIJA - Gunmen killed an Iraqi soldier on Saturday in Hawija, 70 Km (40 miles) southwest of Kirkuk, police said.

BAGHDAD - A car bomb killed up to 17 people and wounded 30 more in the town of Mahmudiya, 30 km (20 miles) south of Baghdad, local officials said.

BAGHDAD - Seven people were killed and 21 wounded when a suicide car bomb exploded near an intersection in Ilaam district in southern Baghdad, police said.

NEAR MAHMUDIYA - U.S. forces detained three insurgents on Sunday near the town of Mahmudiya, the U.S. military said.

DIYALA PROVINCE - Four U.S. soldiers were killed by an explosion near their vehicle on Saturday in Diyala province north of Baghdad, the U.S. military said on Sunday.

FALLUJA - A roadside bomb targeting a police patrol killed one policeman and wounded another in the Sunni stronghold of Falluja, 50 km (35 miles) west of Baghdad, police said.

FALLUJA - Police said they found the body of a man shot dead in Falluja.

BAGHDAD - The bodies of 12 people were found shot on Saturday in different parts of Baghdad, police said.

BAGDHAD - A roadside bomb targeting a police patrol killed one policeman and wounded seven in the Adhamiya district in northern Baghdad, police said.

BAGHDAD - U.S. forces captured a senior al-Qaeda leader and two others during a raid in Baghdad, the U.S. military said.

HILLA - A roadside bomb targeting a police Scorpion Brigade patrol wounded three policemen in the Shi'ite city of Hilla, 100 km (60 miles) south of Baghdad, police said. Police raided neighbouring districts and arrested two suspected insurgents.

BAGHDAD - A sniper killed a woman on Saturday in southwestern Baghdad, police said.
