U.S. soldiers take up position to secure the entrance of a police station in Baghdad's Sadr City today

HIBHIB - Ten Iraqi policemen were missing after insurgents attacked a police station north of Baghdad, killing one policeman and wounding three more, a police source said. The source said a group of insurgents stormed the police station in Hibhib, in Diyala province.

BAGHDAD - The U.S. military said an Apache attack helicopter killed 12 insurgents who were planning to ambush a U.S. patrol on a highway west of Baghdad airport on Wednesday evening. The air strike also destroyed a truck mounted with an anti-aircraft heavy machine gun, a U.S. statement said.

MOSUL - U.S. forces in Mosul killed one suspected insurgent and captured six more, including a man the U.S. military said was an al-Qaeda linked militant known as "The Butcher", thought responsible for kidnappings, beheadings and bombings in the Mosul and Ramadi areas.

FALLUJA - U.S. forces captured two suspected insurgents during a raid in Falluja, in western Iraq, the U.S. military said.

KARMA - U.S. forces captured eight al-Qaeda suspects, including one described as a "media emir" northeast of Karma, which is near Falluja, the U.S. military said.
