Travis Pfister reported killed in helicopter crash

A Marine from Richland died Wednesday in a helicopter crash in Iraq. Travis Pfister was a 1997 graduate of Hanford High School.

The U.S. Marine transport helicopter crashed in a field northwest of Baghdad, according to a report from The Associated Press. The seven military personnel aboard were killed.

Military officials suspected a mechanical problem, though an al-Qaida-linked group claimed on a Web site to have shot it down, The Associated Press reported.
