BAIJI - The governor of central Salahaddin province escaped unharmed after a roadside bomb targeting his convoy killed three of his bodyguards and wounded four, Governor Mohammad Hamoud al-Qaisi told reporters.

FALLUJA - Suspected al Qaeda gunmen killed 13 members of a Sunni family near the western city of Falluja, pulling them from a minibus as they returned from a funeral. The mourners, including two young boys, were killed after the militants learned they were from a tribe opposed to al Qaeda, police said.

RAMADI - Two suicide car bombs exploded in Ramadi, west of Baghdad, killing 11 people and wounding four, police and witnesses said. The bombs exploded outside the house of a tribal leader who has led a government-backed campaign to fight al Qaeda militants in Sunni-dominated Anbar province, police said.

BAGHDAD - Twin roadside bombs targeting a police patrol killed six people and wounded 40 in the Zaafaraniya district in southern Baghdad, police said.

DHULUIYA - A suicide car bomber targeting the army chief in Dhuluiya, 40 km (25 miles) north of Baghdad, killed five people, including a soldier, and wounded 10, police said.

BAGHDAD - A bomb in central Baghdad killed four people on Monday, witnesses said. A Reuters photographer saw four bodies in the street after the explosion blew off the top of a minibus in the Karrada district. Police said the bomb was in the bus.

NEAR TIKRIT - Gunmen attacked a police checkpoint on Sunday, killing three people and wounding four near Tikrit, 175 km (110 miles) north of Baghdad, police said.

NEAR BAGHDAD - Two U.S. soldiers were killed and 17 others were wounded after insurgents launched a coordinated attack on a U.S. outpost near Baghdad, the U.S. military said in a statement.

MOSUL - The bodies of eight people were found shot dead in the northern city of Mosul.

ANBAR PROVINCE - Insurgents killed one U.S. soldier on Sunday in the western province of Anbar, the U.S. military said.

ANBAR PROVINCE - A U.S. Marine was killed in combat in the western province of Anbar on Saturday, the U.S. military said.

TAL AFAR - A policeman was killed and three others wounded when explosives inside a booby-trapped house they were searching detonated in the northern Iraqi town of Tal Afar, police said.

NEAR BAQUBA - Gunmen killed Sabah Bajilan, head of the al-Saadiya municipality, on Sunday in the town 90 km (55 miles) northeast of Baquba, police said. Bajilan's bodyguards killed two of the attackers.

MUSSAYAB - Police found the bodies of two people shot dead in Mussayab, a town 60 km (40 miles) south of Baghdad, police said.

TIKRIT - U.S. forces detained seven insurgents and destroyed an unexploded car bomb during a raid east of Tikrit, the U.S. military said.

BAGHDAD - Iraqi soldiers backed by U.S. advisers captured two suspected members of radical Shi'ite cleric Moqtada al-Sadr's Mehdi Army militia on Sunday in southern Baghdad, the U.S. military said.

BAGHDAD - The bodies of three people were found shot dead on Sunday in Baghdad, police said.

MAHMUDIYA - A car bomb killed a man and wounded two in Mahmudiya, 30 km (20 miles) south of Baghdad, police said.
