Luis G. Ayala dies of injuries from I.E.D.

(CBS) SOUTH GATE, Calif. A 21-year-old Army soldier from South Gate died in Iraq when a homemade bomb exploded near his unit while on combat patrol, the Department of Defense reported Wednesday.

Spc. Luis G. Ayala died in Taji, Iraq, of wounds suffered on Thursday.

Ayala was assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 8th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Cavalry Division, Fort Hood, Texas.
