Explosives found in Iraqi medical facility flying Red Crescent flag
Red Crescent is the primary humanitarian organization in Iraq
BAGHDAD, Iraq: Insurgents detonated a bomb at a medical facility flying a Red Crescent flag and planted more explosives in the building, but security forces removed them safely, the U.S. military said Tuesday. There were no reports of casualties.
The military said U.S. and Iraqi troops responded to reports of an explosion Sunday in the medical facility, which is housed in a former school east of Ramadi in Iraq's volatile Anbar province.
"The building was clearly marked with a Red Crescent flag, which is a symbol for medical facilities," the military said in a statement.
