Blair to head to Washington as Iraq report published

LONDON (AFP) - British Prime Minister Tony Blair will travel to Washington Wednesday for talks with US President George W. Bush just as a key Iraq policy report is published, his spokesman said.

The two Iraq war allies will hold face-to-face talks and Blair will also meet with congressional leaders during a brief trip to the US capital, the spokesman told reporters.

The spokesman said it was a "happy coincidence" that Blair was traveling to Washington on the day the independent Iraq Study Group was giving its long awaited report to Bush, Congress and the US people.
