James Lee 'Doug' Bridges laid to rest

Hundreds came out to pay their last respects to twenty-two year old Doug Bridges, a Buhl native who decided to serve his country in the United States Army. It was here he grew up, the town so small he was known by almost everyone despite the fact he is described as a quiet kid.

"Know that he laid down his life for you, defending the highest cause, which is our freedom."

United States flags and yellow ribbons line the streets, flags at half staff in support for who the son the family knew as simply Dougie.

"Lori and I both knew it wasn't forever; he was our gift. It was our job and our honor to nurture him and we were very pleased that God trusted us with that."

The Idaho National Guard gave him respect in a way only fellow soldiers can, taking great care to fold the American flag carefully before handing it to his parents standing in the fading light.

If the small town charm wasn't enough, an organized motorcycle crew gave their respects, some traveling over a hundred miles to be here to show their support. Before the funeral, standing by their bikes and sharing stories of life in the service, like this twenty-two year old Idaho patriot.

"Doug's gone to be with his Lord.

The Buhl firefighters cooked a meal for everyone who attended today's funeral. There were rumors of protesters at today's funeral, but according to the local police department, they were just rumors.
