Timothy J. Lauer laid to rest
BLOOMING VALLEY — U.S. Army Cpl. Timothy Lauer was laid to rest today.
More than 200 people filled Blooming Valley United Methodist Church this morning for services for Lauer, 25.
Lauer was killed Oct. 14 in Baghdad, Iraq when an improvised explosive device detonated near his vehicle, killing Lauer and two other soldiers. Lauer was a 2000 graduate of Cochranton Junior-Senior High School.
Rev. Christine Rogan reminded those in attendance that “Timothy has an eternal place with God.”
Rogan said Lauer was not only proud to be an American soldier, but “proud to be in Iraq to defend us and protect us.”
Following today’s service, a more than one mile procession of vehicles led by a Pennsylvania State Police escort took Lauer from the church to Cochranton Cemetery where he was buried with full military honors.
