Jesus M. Montalvo killed by small arms fire

A soldier from Fort Hood's 4th Infantry Division was killed last week in Iraq, the Defense Department announced Monday.

Staff Sgt. Jesus M. Montalvo died Wednesday in Baghdad after he was shot by small arms fire during combat.

Montalvo, 46, was from Rio Piedras, Puerto Rico. He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 10th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Brigade, 4th Infantry Division at Fort Hood, Texas.
