Snyder County Soldier Killed in Iraq (Justin W. Dreese)

SELINSGROVE — A soldier from Snyder County was reported killed in combat over the weekend.

Details of the death of Justin W. Dreese, 22, a Private First Class serving with the 1/325 Division of the 82nd Airborne, were not available at press time.

A paratrooper, PFC Dreese was serving in the Middle East. His unit was stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C.

He was a 2004 graduate of Selinsgrove High School. His parents are Gregory and Kathryn Shaffer of Northumberland and Wesley and Carolyn Dreese of Freeburg.

The family was notified by Army representatives of his death early Sunday morning. A family member declined to speak to a reporter.

Numerous tributes from friends were posted Sunday on Mr. Dreese's MySpace Web site. The site included comments from his parents, thanking his friends and saying they would maintain the Web site as a memorial to him.
