Slovakia to withdraw troops from Iraq within six months
BRATISLAVA, Slovakia The Slovakian foreign minister said Friday his country plans to withdraw its troops from Iraq early next year.
Jan Kubis, speaking after a meeting his Iraqi counterpart Hoshyar Zebari, said that the Slovak troops sent to Iraq within the regular rotation system on Aug. 23 were the last troops to go.
"I can confirm that this rotation is the last one," he told reporters. He did not provide details, but the standard time for each rotation phase is six months, making the deadline Feb. 23 at the latest.
