Doctor Awarded Bronze Star For Service In Iraq


KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A local doctor who is also a Navy reservist now has a Bronze Star.

Dr. Matt Gratton spent all of last year treating Marines, sailors and Iraqi soldiers in Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was stationed in Haditha.

This week, Gratton was awarded the Bronze Star for his work as battalion surgeon with the 3rd Battalion, 25th Marines.


In all, Gratton and his team were responsible for the medical care given to 1,700 servicemen and women.

He said he got eventually grew accustomed to the danger and the bombing.
